Information for Trip in 2018
Haslital/Grimsel Region of the Bernese Oberland
The Haslital lies in the geographical centre of Switzerland between Interlaken and Lucerne in the eastern Bernese Oberland. The Valley is embedded in the famous alpine passes of Grimsel, Susten, Grosse Scheidegg and Brünig. The powerful Aare gorge, the wild Rosenlaui glacier gorge, the Gelmer funicular (world’s steepest funicular), the Trift swing bridge (longest swing-bridge in Europe), the Ballenberg Swiss Outdoor Museum, the thundering Reichenbach waterfalls, the Brienz-Rothorn stream-cog railway, the picturesque Engstlenalp with cheese-making dairy and the Sherlock Holmes Museum are just some of the highlights in the Haslital. For those who want to take it a bit easier, a boat ride around the lake of Brienz or a refreshing swim in a mountain stream are perfect options.
Trift Aerial Cable car
The Trift aerial cable car takes you up across the Trift gorge and up to the Trift valley. The gondola glides weightlessly above the Trift gorge and takes 8 passengers at a time from the Gadmen Valley up to the Trift area. Once only used for workers, this gondola now accesses a hiking area - the highlight of which is the Trift suspension bridge. From here you can hike up to the Trift suspension bridge where a fascinating view up to the lake and glacier will reward your efforts.
