Route:
A magnificently-landscaped path leads from the First summit station by lush flowering alpine meadows. At the start of the hike, a short, but considerable climb must be tackled up to the Gummihütte. After a short period of hiking, a more or less flat path leads from the Gummihütte to Lake Bachalp. Behind the lake, the former mule track climbs steeply in the direction of the Burgihütte mountain hut, passing two mountain refuges before it reaches Gassenboden. The time-honored Faulhorn Hotel, from where you can enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets, is just a few bends further up the trail.Descend to Fulegg and pass the Männdlenen Mountain Lodge, then continue with a gentle descent on the slope of the Sägissa. Pass on the south side of the summit of the Laucherhorn and then past the mountain huts at Oberberg, then continue to the finish at Schynige Platte. Return: Take the narrow gauge, cog train from Schynige Platte to Wilderswil that makes the 1400m descent in about an hour. Lunch/Drink: Manndlenen/Weber Hut and Faulhorn Hut & Restaurant Overnight Accommodations: Berghotel Schynige Platte (36 beds) or Faulhorn Hut (16 beds, 80 dorms). Both have spectacular views and offer meals. Manndlenen/Weber Hut and First have dormitory accommodations available as well. |
